What are deeplinks? Deeplinking explained.

Deep linking is a technique that allows you to link to a specific piece of content within a mobile app, rather than just the app's homepage. This means that users can be directed to a specific feature or screen within the app, rather than having to navigate from the homepage.

Deep linking works by using a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI), which is a string of characters that identifies a name or resource on the internet. When a user clicks on a deep link, the URI is sent to the app, which uses it to determine what content to display.

There are two types of deep links: standard deep links and deferred deep links

  • Standard deep links are used when the app is already installed on the user's device, and they open the app and take the user to the specified content.
  • Deferred deep links are used when the app is not yet installed on the user's device, and they take the user to a landing page that prompts them to download the app before directing them to the specified content.

MMPs (Mobile Measurement Partners) often provide easy-to-use functionality that allow marketers to create deeplinks without programming or extended developer support.

Deep linking can be a powerful tool for mobile app marketing, as it allows you to create targeted campaigns that drive users directly to specific features or content within your app.
